Day 8 - ‘in-a-minute’

Good Morning

I don’t know if your football team won or lost last night but the truth is, that this sort of feel-good happiness is short-lived, it is different to what we know as ‘Joy.’  Joy is not dependent on external highs and lows, (Nehemiah 8:10) the Joy of the Lord is our strength. (John 16:20) The joy of the Lord can rise from a time of brokenness or sorrow if we remain in Christ.  In John 15:11 Jesus said ‘ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.’ Notice Jesus says ‘my joy’ think about it Christ’s joy may be in you and that is not a wil-o-the-wisp joy, it is his joy that makes our joy complete.  Sporting success can make us happy but our Lord gives us a deeper resource, that is of himself, his well of joy. I hope you have a good day

God Bless

Lord, thank you that your joy may be in me. Help me to treasure this in my heart and to remember this truth whatever this day may hold.  Amen.
