Day 34 - ‘in-a-minute’

Thank you for being so faithful in staying with me for these reflections and we are coming towards the crescendo of our journey.

This is Holy Week and we travel with Jesus and his friends on the last leg of a journey towards ... the unknown. We are so familiar with the story, we forget that they didn't know what was coming. The disciples did not know that there would be a last supper on Thursday nor that they would abandon Jesus that same night.  The next day, Friday, their Saviour would die on a cross on a hill called Calvary. Broken with grief, they would have to endure Easter Saturday, not knowing Sunday would bring such a surprise.

Today, let us brace ourselves, Holy Week has to be lived through, knowing of course, that Sunday is coming.  But it is important to suspend that knowing... in order to experience the horror of Friday only to be surprised again by the resurrection.

Let us start our Holy Week journey today and then Palm Sunday tomorrow, then the next and the next please join me.

 God Bless

God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant: make us perfect in every good work to do your will, and work in us that which is well pleasing in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen   (from BCP based on Hebrews 13:20)
