Day 38 - ‘in-a-minute’

How are you?

No, I’m not talking about the traditional theme of washing feet today, you can wash your own feet!
Last night I sat outside, after dark warming myself at a fire pit, and chatting to my family.  I remembered the story of Peter warming himself at a brazier when he was betraying Jesus late Thursday night, the early hours of Good Friday (John 18:18). I wondered how many fire pits had he stood at with Jesus as they ministered in Galilee. He had that privilege of being discipled by Jesus – wow, and I am sure there were fire pits and bush tucker cooking as they travelled around Galilee. A question came to me  - which fire is warming you, the radiant glow from the fire of the Holy Spirit’s tuition: dynamic and risk-taking or the fire of a secular, Christ-persecuting world?  I hope you are drawn to the warmth of Christ’s Holy Spirit's today.

God Bless

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day. And I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body, my soul and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me.’ Amen
Martin Luther (1483 - 1546):

    A Prayer for Maundy Thursday

God our Father, you have invited us to share in the supper which your Son gave to his Church to proclaim his death until he comes: may he nourish us by his presence, and unite us in his love; who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.    RCL

A prayer for forgiveness

Eternal God, I ask your forgiveness for anything wrong or hurtful I have done. Help me to make a new beginning with the love and peace and joy of Jesus in my heart today and for the coming week.  Amen (adapted from Elizabeth Rundle)
