Session Seven . Telling Others.

Telling Others

This is it! The final session in our Soul Savers series and if you have stayed with it to the end, well done.
Of all the sessions, this is the one that fires me up the most, this is the one that makes me tick. On the other hand, this is the session that is most controversial, the one with the greatest risk factor and the biggest guilt factor for failure.

So the stakes are high for ‘Telling Others!

As Christians, we are called to tell others about the wonderful gift of eternal life which Jesus Christ has won for us through his life, his death and his resurrection. Now hear this for pressure …..God picked you for his team (John 15:16).

He “chose you and appointed you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that endures"

Now that God has saved you, you are part of His story.  Your story (testimony) is part of the story of God’s grace and God’s gift of eternal life to any who respond to Him. God has made us what we are, workers and doers and he has created for us a life of ‘good deeds,’ which he has already prepared for us to do [Ephesians 2:10].  Of course, the good deeds do not earn your eternal life (you are saved only by the grace of God through faith). Having been set free ourselves, Jesus calls us to ‘go and make disciples.’[Matthew 28v19] Having come to faith ourselves we are encouraged to share our story with others hoping and praying that our friends, relatives, acquaintances, neighbours and colleagues will seek for themselves and finds the transformation, peace and freedom that we have received.

God is always seeking out ‘the Lost.’

The ‘lost’ are those who are without God and it is in God’s nature that none should perish” [2 Pet 3 v 9].  In Jesus Christ we see the generosity of God seeking to draw people to himself, offering a fresh start in life, a release, a freedom that only he can give. Dr Livingstone (I presume) said “God had an only son and he made him a missionary.”  Everything else to Jesus was secondary…’

"The Son… came to seek and save the lost” Luke 19v10)

So we tell others in response to who God is (a missionary God) and as we do we become part of the generous nature of God giving himself to others.  This is not bible bashing or brainwashing. This is not an optional extra for fanatical Christians. This is who we are as Christians, ‘missionary people,’ people who know God and want to make God known to those around us.

I don’t want you to run a mile at the thought of it but God is counting on you. You are His way of ministering to the needs of the world. Look around today for these opportunities of serving Him. He will give you the strength to do His work, trust Him, and let Him lead you on. The main thing that is often missed in talking about our mission is that God is counting on you to ‘be yourself.’
He has made you the personality you are, so if knocking on doors or handing out gospel tracks in city centres freaks you out – that’s OK, that’s the way God has made you, He is not expecting you to serve him in that way.  Alternatively, God may want you to serve someone in some other way, loving them into the kingdom, providing for them, encouraging them, supporting them.  In another instance God may wish you to invite someone to a Christian concert or church or just to befriend them, to be there for them.  That’s another way in which God may use your personality.   As a word of warning, it is rarely true that God wants you to convince someone of his love for them by ‘argument’ alone.  But you may wish to assure them that you will get back to them with answers to their queries.  Furthermore, whatever their questions are your testimony is that you are convinced Jesus is the ‘way the truth and the life.’  It is your story and the impact Christ has had on your life that will speak to your friends, relatives, acquaintances, neighbours and work colleagues.

Now in the power of His Spirit, He sends you out to be His witness "unto all people of what you have seen and heard" [Acts 22:15]. This is now your reason for living. You are born to reproduce you are born again to reproduce the new life that is in you.  What a deal, you are a co-worker with Christ in telling the good news of his salvation to the ends of the earth and unto the end of time.

On with Session 7… same format…. I ask the questions ….you Click&collect the answers from the bible.  You can use the search finger or look up the verses in your own bible.  You can download the questions for more time to search. All the best.
