Day 22 - ‘in-a-minute’
Good Morning
Today I’m thinking about Jesus’ prayer for unity in John 17:22 “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one 23 I in them and you in me, so that they may be brought to complete unity.”
There is a strange kind of Mathematics going on here, ‘that they may be one as we are one.’ It’s like a riddle but I make that 1+1+1=1. Jesus is in the Father and we are in him and he and the Father are one. Our Unity as Christians in our fellowships is a real strength because we are in Christ. A word of warning, unity is not uniformity, we do not have to like the same music, like sport, or wear the same clothes. Our transformation of Jesus in us does not make us clones. We are united by giving Jesus the glory, the pre-eminence. We are united in sharing the good news that Jesus came into the world to save sinners (like us), we are united through the unchanging, enduring word of God. Our oneness is our in-Christness, he in us we in Him because Jesus and the Father are one.
I hope this helps rather than confuses you this morning!
God Bless
